8 DAYS CANOEING ON THE RIVERS AND LAKES OF CROATIA

ITINERARY FOR THE "LAND OF WATERFALLS" PROGRAM

Day 1 - Saturday: Arrival to Zvecaj/Zeleni kut boarding house from Rijeka airport or Zagreb airport / train station. Get-together dinner in the evening.

Day 1- Saturday: Arrival to Korana Village in Plitvice Lakes National Park (transfer from Zagreb airport). Informal light-meal dinner  in the evening by the river with the other group members.

Day 2 - Rafting on nearby Dobra River, with a possible (if time permits) visit to a cultural heritage site of Novigrad na Dobri. This river offers good rafting conditions and has a long tradition of commercial rafting, (if the water levels are low and the river too easy for rafting, kayaks will make the trip more interesting, or the trip might be transferred to the Mreznica River).

Day 2: A day of hiking around the lakes and highest waterfalls in the national park Plitvice lakes.

Day 3 -  First kayak and canoe instructions and a trip upstream the Mreznica. Mreznica is a typical river in limestone with numerous travertine waterfalls and calm water between them. In summer it is usually pleasant for swimming. After a light picnic by the river we shall paddle to our boarding house for beach barbecue.

Day 3: Expedition into canyon and waterfalls of Mreznica River, with lots of swimming and fun. This is the most beautiful part of the river, where the water temperature in Summer can reach 25 degrees Celsius. We travel down deep, narrow canyon and many waterfalls - up to 8 meters high.

Day 4 -Visit Plitvice Lakes National Park for a hike tour of 16 lakes and hundreds of waterfalls this World Heritage Site has to offer . The narrow paved road surrounding the lakes is closed for motor vehicles and most of it leads between forests, meadows, hills and along the lake shores. 

Day 4: You cycle through forests, between hills and across green fields. This road will lead you to the Barac caves for a guided underground tour. After visiting the caves, there will be a time to relax and play. Return later in the afternoon to Korana Village in time to enjoy a traditional Croatian evening meal.  (Please note that cycling the entire route may be too difficult for small children, but alternative arrangements can be made with the guide.).

Day 5 - In the afternoon a bike tour along country roads and villages of the area.

Day 6 - Expedition down the canyon and waterfalls of upper section of Mreznica. This is the most beautiful part of the river, where the water temperature in Summer can reach 25 degrees Celsius. We will travel down the deep, narrow canyon and bypass many waterfalls - up to 8 meters high.

Day 5 - Heading south for canoeing down the magnificent wild-west-like canyons of Zrmanja and Krupa Rivers. Enjoy the easy rapids, swimming in crystal clear waters and under waterfalls.

Day 6 - a trip upstream the Mreznica. Mreznica is a typical limestone river - many travertine waterfalls alternate with calm water,  usually pleasant for swimming in summer.

Day 7 -  Relaxing day in a country life atmosphere. You can take a bicycle tour to other places of interest in the area – or a train ride to Zagreb, the cultural and political center of Croatia.

Day 7 - A day to be spent at leisure in the Village, taking a private trip in the park or as an alternative, taking part in one of the optional trips – Please note that rafting will be dependent on suitable water levels.

Una Rafting trip - culminating with a real Bosnian lunch and Turkish coffee – 62€/pp

Crikvenica: visit the Adriatic coast – 55€/pp

Klek mountain hiking – 25€/pp

Visit Zagreb, the capital – 30€/pp

Optional trip on day 7 is NOT included in price and can be booked and paid on spot.

Day 8 - by both programs, departure in the morning.

The itinerary of these multi-activity tours is subject to change depending on group abilities and wishes, weather, water levels, special events of interest and similar. The organizer reserves the right to alternate program without prior notice in order to provide the best possible but safe experience for the participants.

Departure dates are every Saturday in months of of June (starting on 5th), July, August and September (ending with 25th). Other dates are subject to an individual arrangement.

Rooms: Please note that in the "Land of Waterfalls" there are only rooms with 2 and 3 beds per room, with 2 rooms sharing bathroom. On the "Clear Rivers" trip, all rooms are equipped with en suite bathrooms, TV, mini bar, telephone and have Internet access. Single rooms are not available but as double rooms/single use.

Meals: The meals on the "Land of Waterfalls" trip tend to be fairly heavy on the meats and sausages, breads and pastries, pastas and dumplings.

On the "Clear Rivers" trip, freshly caught fish, as well as home-grown vegetables would be mainly served. Barbecues are also a specialty of the house and make for a convivial end to the day’s activities.

Half-board included in price assumes breakfasts and evening meals, from dinner first day till breakfast last day. It does not include lunches, picnics, alcoholic beverages etc.

Maximum number of participants: 16 per group. Larger groups on request.

Minimum age: 8 years if accompanied by parent. Children discount of 10% is valid for children 8-14 years of age if accompanied by an adult. 1 child enjoying discount shares parents’ room, 2 or more children can have their own room.
