ITINERARY
|
|
Day 1: Arrival
in Skradin and check in the Skradinski Buk hotel. There will be an
introductory dinner with a presentation of the program, and an
introductory night on the town.
|
|
Day 2: sightseeing of the Krka River National Park. It
contains of a short boat ride up the river to the magnificent
44-meters high Skradinski Buk waterfalls, motor boat ride to
the island of Visovac to visit the Franciscan (Catholic) monastery,
then a walk to explore Roski waterfall with its numerous mills,
streams and cascades. There will be time for lunch and a swim. Those
who prefer less walking can continue by boat to visit St. Archangel
(Orthodox) monastery in the upper canyon of the river. Both the
upper canyon and the lake are abundant with wildlife, with more than
200 different species of birds .
|
|
Day 3: A kayaking day on
the Krka River and Prokljan Lake towards Zaton. There
will be time to enjoy the beach and practice kayak
skills to prepare for the more challenging
rivers that will be explored in the following few
days. The brackish waters of the lake cause it to teem with
life. The eel which dwells here is a favourite gourmet
specialty.
|
|
Day 4:
Exploring
of Zrmanja and Krupa rivers by kayaking down the easy rapids in a
magnificent canyon and possible swimming under
wonderful waterfalls. If the water level is
high (usually in spring and autumn), rafts will be
used because under those circumstances the rapids
would be too challenging for beginner kayakers. After the river
trip and a picnic, the day continues by paying
visit to antique walls of the town of Zadar and its
promenade, with numerous garden cafés that offer various
refreshments.
|
|
Day 5: A venture to the
romantic Vrgada Island for sea kayaking, snorkeling and
swimming. This island at the doorstep of Kornati Islands
National Park has no cars or hotels. It has, however,
many charming coves and the most beautiful beach in
the area. Fishing, and farming, has always been, and
still is, the way of life there. In the evening, a visit
to Sibenik, an ancient town with lively Mediterranean nightlife.
|
|
Day 6: A rafting
trip on the Cetina River, that is more thrilling for it's sights of clear
water, thick forests, mysterious caves and sparkling
waterfalls, then actual big rapids. The river is
grade 3 – easy enough for families and absolute beginners.
The trip ends at Radman Mills, a traditional
restaurant in a beautiful setting of old mills, once powered
by the waters of the Cetina River. After lunch, a visit to
Split, its popular palm tree promenade and the Roman
emperor Diocletian's Palace, built in
the 4th century. If there would be enough time, a visit
would be paid to the town of Trogir, another UNESCO
World Heritage site – an old town with enchanting
streets and stone houses of incredible architecture, filled with works
of art and warm ambience.
|
|
Day 7: A day to
relax on a beach. Optional excursions are possible: a bike
trip in the park, a boat trip to Kornati Islands
National Park, or a souvenir shopping in the nearby town of
Sibenik. Farewell dinner at the hotel.

Skradin is a unique
town hidden in the Krka River estuary, 80 kilometers from the Split
airport, just on the edge of the National Park. The small picturesque
town, rich in history, has a couple of family-run hotels, restaurants,
pubs and wineries, a beach and marina. It is off the main tourist paths
and remains a friendly town rather than a fast-pace resort. Our program is
a well balanced mixture of activities, nature and culture. Your days will
be filled with hiking up to the waterfalls and across narrow streams,
touring lakes in a canoe, kayaking around islands and on rapids through
exotic river canyons, rafting along wild thick forests, and exploring
caves. Afternoons and evenings will be spent in the relaxing ambience of
the towns of Zadar, Sibenik, Split and Trogir. The low-effort activities
of kayaking, rafting, bicycling and sea kayaking make a pleasant way
of traveling through unspoiled and remote areas. The sea, the lakes and
the rivers of the area are safe and friendly, with pleasant summer
temperatures.
Prices include:
- 7 nights in double rooms (with en-suite bathroom)
